Shooting sport simulation device
Poloch, Martin ; Musil, Vladislav (referee) ; Šteffan, Pavel (advisor)
The goal of this diploma thesis is to design a shooting sport simulation device. Output of this project should be a market competitive product therefore the design should be focused on low price. Other important aspects are safety, reliability and mutlifunctionality of the whole system. Shooting simulation is based on special technology of sensing laser beams with LED developed in author´s bachelor thesis. The system is controlled by a group of microcontrollers. Their program running and communication is a key part of this thesis.
Laser gun and target for shooting sport practise
Poloch, Martin ; Drexler, Petr (referee) ; Friedl, Martin (advisor)
This work deals with complete design of a system for simulating shooting sport. Key aspects of the design are similarity with shooting from classic mechanical weapons, multifunctionality of the system and costs. The core of the simulation is a laser transmitter in the weapon and a photosensitive receiver in the target. One of the key part of this thesis is choosing the most suitable photosensor. The final version of the system is controlled by a group of microcontrollers and provides several types of feedback. For example lighting the place that has been hit with LED, sound signals, displaying shooting results, or evaluating them with a computer.
System For Analysis of Biathlon Statistics
Zeman, Ondřej ; Burgetová, Ivana (referee) ; Bartík, Vladimír (advisor)
The goal of this bachelor's thesis is to create a web application that downloads biathlon data and statistics and use the technique to get knowledge from data to get interesting and unusual information. In this work are solving descriptive and predictive mining tasks. Clustering algorithms have been used for descriptive mining tasks and for search patterns in course and shooting statistics. Prediction of race results is solved by using multiple linear regression. The application is implemented in Python. Web application is available at https://analysisofbiathlonstatistics.herokuapp.com.
Mathematics in the world of sports
DOČEKALOVÁ, Lenka
The diploma thesis deals with mathematics in the world of sports. The aim was to show how important mathematics is for sport and its great use. The work was divided into two parts. In the first, we discuss the athletic decathlon in detail. Specifically, we deal with the scoring system, the increase of points, percentage differences and the influence of individual performances in different disciplines. The text should also serve as advice for decathlete coaches, in which direction they should lead their training for the improvement of their charges. The last part of the chapter is dedicated to comparing the results of the best decathletes. The second part analyzes biathlon. Again, the main content of the work is the adjustment of scoring systems and various strategies of biathletes, in which we also include the influence of external conditions. The work deals only with endurance races and sprints for a total of eight selected competitors. At the end of the thesis there are also hints and tips for improving the performance of competitors.
Gender Equality, Biathlon and Media: An Analysis of Media Production
Gerth, Lisa ; Numerato, Dino (advisor) ; Vochocová, Lenka (referee)
Women are significantly underrepresented in sports. This is primarily because for many centuries it was forbidden for women to participate in sports. Today, women are allowed to take part in numerous sports and in major events such as the Olympic Games. Nevertheless, a male hegemony prevails in sports, which is expressed especially in media production. Biathlon represents one of the sport disciplines in which women and men operate on an equal footing. The goal of this paper is to analyze the media production processes in biathlon, concerning the gender issues. The research was conducted with qualitative interviews with sports journalists and athletes and analyzed with grounded theory. Data analysis shows that journalists do not address the issue of gender equality in biathlon coverage. They primarily report on the sporting success of the athletes, regardless of gender. This also means that hardly any women-specific topics are addressed. The interviewed journalists are gender-blind in their work. There is rather a marginalized equality of men and women. Especially female athletes and female journalists point out that the sport of biathlon and the media production about it can further improve in terms of gender equality.

Gräfová, Martina ; Červinka, Pavel (advisor) ; Kotlík, Kamil (referee)
Title: Analysis of dietary habits of cross-country skiers and biathletes in youth and junior categories Aims: The theoretical part of this diploma thesis summarises information on the nutrition of endurance athletes. The practical part analyses and evaluates the dietary habits of Czech cross- country skiers and biathletes of youth and junior categories during the preparatory phase, focusing on food composition, the ratio of individual nutrients, use of nutritional supplements and fluid intake. Methods: Eighteen men and thirteen women participated in the study. It was conducted via a questionnaire based on open-ended questions. The questionnaire focused on information about the male and female respondents necessary to conduct the research, their dietary intake, including fluids, nutritional supplements, and physical activity over a two-week period. Results: Most athletes, especially women, ingest insufficient dietary energy compared to their estimated energy expenditure. They consume most of their calories in the latter part of the day, most at dinner. Of the macronutrients ingested, only the amount of carbohydrate is insufficient. In contrast, the amount of protein is above the recommended amount for most men and women. Despite the fact that endurance sportsmen and women need a higher fluid intake...

Vecko, Petr ; Janák, Vladimír (advisor) ; Omcirk, Vilém (referee)
Title: Development of media coverage biathlon in Czech television at 2010-2014 Objectives: The main objective of this work is a detailed analysis of the evolution of media coverage of biathlon on Czech Television, concretely on the ČT sport channel between 2010 and 2014. Another objective is to analyze the viewership of biathlon programs broadcasted on Czech Television. Methods: A quantitative content analysis will be used in this study, through which it will determine how much time was devoted to various biathlon programs in different years and months. An electronic TV program of Czech Television will be analyzed. Results: The analysis shows that the space devoted to biathlon on Czech Television increases during this period of time. The largest increase of broadcast time was noted between 2011 and 2013. The most influential events in this broadcast time were major events such as World Championships and Olympics. The largest audience was found in 2013 and 2014. Key words: Biathlon, Czech Television, quantitative content analysis, broadcast time, viewership, media
Biathletes long term physical preparedness level in preparatory period
Veselý, Vojtěch ; Sucharda, Jan (advisor) ; Fiala, Miloš (referee)
Title: Biathletes long term physical preparedness level in preparatory period Objectives: To compare in selected control tests from prepartory period the best results of present biathlon junior representants and junior results of the best present biathlon sportsmen, who are nowadays in the world biathletes top, and to give long term development overview according to these tests. Methods: In this thesis, data collection method, data analysis method and comparison method was used. Data collection method was the first step where we summarized all available junior results from selected preparatory period tests. Furhter, the data analysis method was used to select the best achieved time for each junior competitor in selected tests and from all results. Comparison method was chosen for thesis conclusion where we compare and present all junior competitors best results in well-arranged tables and charts. Arithmetic mean was used as statistical method for work with results Results: On the grounds of performance level comparison shown in preparatory period control tests in 2001-2012 period, of present junior group and junior level performance of present top world biathlon sportsmen, we discovered that long term performance level of present juniors is worse than performance level of the then juniors....
